Redondo Red's "Look Up to the Sky" - A Reflection of Perseverance Through Uncertainty

Alt-indie artist Redondo Red is back with his latest single, "Look Up to the Sky," and it's a breath of fresh air in the ever-evolving indie music scene. As the third single from his upcoming debut album, this track follows the success of "Call It," which boasts over 100K streams, and "Richest Man," which received radio play on 91X in the United States and across Europe. Teaming up with Producer and Musical Director Jordan Lawson (M83), Redondo Red is gearing up for a series of live shows later this year, and it's clear he's ready to make an impression.

"Look Up to the Sky" masterfully weaves a tapestry of haunting synths and guitars, driven by Redondo Red's emotive vocals. The track's rhythmic push and pull, combined with its uneasy, dissonant atmosphere, creates a hypnotic experience that will keep you grooving throughout. With a sound that merges '90s DIY with the Soundcloud hip-hop generation, this track is the perfect accompaniment for a late-night drive or as the soundtrack to a pivotal moment at a party.

The inspiration behind "Look Up to the Sky" came during a tumultuous time in 2020, when California was engulfed in wildfires and the pandemic raged on. As Redondo Red explains:

The song was written on the guitar in the fall of 2020 when the state of California was on fire for weeks on end and the pandemic was in full swing. The ending lyrics, “We fell silent staring at the rain, losing our minds just to stay sane, singing through the hardship, praying through the pain, crawling through the darkness, chanting for change,” is a reflection of where I was during that time. Going to the studio every day and focusing on the only thing I had control over - writing and recording the best music I could.

In addition to his musical prowess, Redondo Red is a UCSD acting school graduate and has appeared in several plays at the La Jolla Playhouse. He initially moved to Los Angeles to pursue a career in film and television and has landed roles in TV shows like Notorious and Criminal Minds, as well as indie feature films like Frisky & Custody Road.

Despite his acting success, music has always been Redondo Red's primary creative outlet. He began writing and performing his music behind a red door off Redondo Street in the heart of Los Angeles, and with the release of his debut album, he is poised to make a lasting impact on the music scene.

"Look Up to the Sky" is available now, and we're excited to see what Redondo Red has in store for us next. Are you interested in a feature or interview with this up-and-coming artist? Let us know what you think of his new single in the comments below!
