German dance-pop radio still loves a hook you can sing after one chorus and a production that works in the car as well as on a Saturday playlist. That is exactly the lane David Emde is aiming at with Tetrapackwein, a Dance Pop track he is pitching for German dance/pop playlists and commercial airplay.
Emde is not a brand-new name if you have been in the English-language dance world. The Alzey-based singer, songwriter, producer and vocal coach spent more than five years in that scene, picking up over 50 million Spotify streams, press coverage, shows and awards along the way. Spotify currently lists him around the 300,000 monthly-listener mark. What changed is the language and the attitude. After years of writing songs designed to travel internationally, he started writing in German and leaning into tracks that, in his own words, are not perfect and do not want to be.
That shift had a public timeline. At a 2023 Blind Audition for The Voice of Germany, none of the coaches turned. In 2024 he opened for Vanessa Mai at the DaCapo Open Air Festival in Alzey’s Schlosshof, using German lyrics on a bill where the posters had already been printed. Later, on a second Voice attempt, Rea Garvey and Nico Santos did turn. His song Hold On also landed on Germany’s Next Topmodel. In 2023 he won a German Songwriting Award in the EDM category for Skyline. The German-language debut single Kreise then found bigFM’s Newcomer format and repeat airplay. He also runs Musikfabrik, the music school he founded in Alzey in 2024.
Tetrapackwein sits in Dance Pop rather than the acoustic-pop lane of Kreise. The title is everyday German: boxed wine, no ceremony, the stuff you actually open. Emde is not handing over a lyric sheet with this submission, so this is not the place to invent verses. What he does say is practical. He wants the song on German Dance/Pop playlists and on commercial radio. That is a clear brief. Current German and European dance-pop charts still reward clean, radio-length records with a chorus that survives a morning-drive mix next to Hugel-style summer records and domestic pop-dance hybrids. A German-language Dance Pop single with a memorable title has a shot in that ecosystem if the hook lands.
He is also on the road in 2026 with a mix of known material and unreleased songs from a new album, with dates including Wetzlar, Plopsaland Haßloch and Fête de la Musique in Hannover. The Voice exposure, the Vanessa Mai support slot, the bigFM run and the school in a smaller city all point to the same project: stay local enough to mean something in Rheinhessen, and write pop that can still travel on radio.
