A!MS and Dappy Don’t Die: Dancehall Loyalty Meets Ayia Napa

Some songs arrive with a hook. This one arrives with a mural, a decade of unfinished business, and a line that sounds like both a toast and a warning: the real don’t die.

British-Cypriot artist A!MS has dropped the official music video for “Don’t Die” with Dappy, folding melodic rap and dancehall into the sound he calls Global Street. The genres on the submission sit right in that mix: Reggaeton, Dancehall, and Afrobeats / Afro-pop / Afro-fusion. It is one of a new batch of tracks due this fall from 3fifty7 Music Ltd, distributed by Believe, and it leads into Peak Season – Deluxe, the expanded edition of A!MS’ 2025 album Peak Season.

The idea at the center is simple and heavy at the same time. “Don’t Die” is about loyalty, perseverance, and lasting legacy. Not the glossy kind. The kind you leave in work, in relationships, and in the rooms you built for other people. A!MS has said Peak Season was never just a month or a moment. It was about building a world from Cyprus that could connect London, the Caribbean, and everywhere in between. This track is framed as the last word in that story.

Then there is the part that sounds made up until you sit with it. In 2015, after performing at one of A!MS’ festivals in Cyprus, Chris Brown visited Club Black N’ White, the Ayia Napa venue operated by A!MS’ family and long tied to the island’s UK garage and hip-hop culture. Brown painted a one-of-a-kind mural inside the club: a green-eyed figure and the words “Don’t Die.” Years later, after A!MS and Dappy had already finished a song with that same title, A!MS found the mural again while looking for artwork. That coincidence became the foundation for the single’s visual identity. The new music snaps back to a venue, a city, and a community that have been in his orbit from the start.

That orbit is the whole point of Global Street. After coming up around the UK’s So Solid Crew world, A!MS chose to build a lot of his career from Ayia Napa instead of staying locked to one scene. Peak Season pulled in Julian Marley, ArrDee, Ramz, Blanco, ZieZie, Liilz, Alika, Cool & Dre, Antaeus, Michelin Shin, and Golden. The deluxe edition adds four new cuts: “Vibes Never Done” with Vanessa Bling, Tugga War, and Cool & Dre; “Baby Got Back” with Ivorian Doll and Michelin Shin; a remix of “TKO” with Alika; and “Don’t Die” with Dappy. Together they push further into dancehall, UK rap, and international club music.

The original nine-track Peak Season, released September 12, 2025, has also been entered for GRAMMY consideration. Entry for consideration is not a nomination, and the deluxe edition is the expanded public release. Off the record, the live side of this world still runs through The Wave Festival at WaterWorld WaterPark in Ayia Napa, where A!MS works as artist, host, and organizer.

What you hear on “Don’t Die” is that borderless approach in motion: UK street music talking to Caribbean bounce, Mediterranean nightlife, and diaspora energy that does not pick one postcode and stay there. Dappy on the record makes sense in that conversation. The video is the public chapter. The mural is the private one that somehow ended up on the cover.

What do you think of this one? Does the Ayia Napa story change how the hook hits, or is it all in the groove? Drop it in the comments.
