Some tracks sprint toward a drop. Others sit with a feeling until the last bar and refuse to let it go. ANDØLD’s debut single Dive is the second kind.
The new project from Harold van Lennep, Andreas Ahrnberg and Matilda Thompson opens ØBSCURE RECORDS with a record that sits between deep and progressive house, indie dance and pop songwriting. Melancholy is there. So is a clear streak of optimism. That tension is the whole point.
At the centre are vocals from Matilda and fellow Swedish singer Marlene Strand, recorded together in unison into the same microphone. Raw, largely single-take, their voices fold into something that feels like a third presence running through the arrangement. Around them, understated melodies and an electronic backdrop grow in scale without showing off. Dive works on headphones at 1 a.m. It also works when a night is winding down and the room wants something reflective instead of another peak-time shove.
That dual-purpose quality is why the track lands in 2026. Melodic house and progressive house are still a major club language, while indie dance keeps pulling songwriting back into electronic music. Dive does not pick a lane so much as hold both: weighty production, Nordic melancholy, and hooks that come from people who actually write songs for a living.
The trio’s paths explain the blend. Belgian-Dutch producer Harold van Lennep has released through Armada and Universal; his single Liberation has surpassed 150 million streams. Matilda Thompson has written for Pitbull, Becky G, Red Velvet and The Boyz. Andreas Ahrnberg has worked across pop and more experimental music, with credits including Red Velvet, Super Junior, Jonghyun and GERD, plus a Platinum-certified Swedish Eurovision entry and Netflix placements. They first connected at an Amsterdam writing session in 2018. The session itself did not yield much worth keeping. The friendship did. Years of camps and collaboration followed until ANDØLD became the thing they did not want to give away.
ØBSCURE RECORDS is the home they built for that sound, and for a wider roster later. Between them they bring songwriting, production, A&R, studios and artist development. Dive is the first statement: emotional, expansive, hard to file under one Beatport folder.
