Dexter Troy’s new single Stellar Punk, out 4 September 2026 on Tactical Records, sits right in that lane: old-school house energy with funk, disco and garage in the mix, plus that Detroit-tinged soul he has been chasing for years.
The Swiss DJ and producer has more than 100 releases behind him on labels that actually mean something in this world: King Street Sounds, Mood Funk Records, Groove Culture and Serial Records. He has shared catalogue space with names like Kerri Chandler, Dennis Ferrer, Masters At Work, Joey Negro, David Krivit, Avicii, Arno Cost, Muttonheads, Didier Sinclair and Dimitri From Paris. That is not a flex list for the bio. It is a map of the rooms he has been writing for.
Twenty-five years behind the decks in Switzerland and abroad will do that. Troy’s sound is house first, then funk, disco and garage, finished with a light Detroit soul. Stellar Punk continues that brief. Beatport files it as funky house at 123 BPM in E minor, with an extended mix around five minutes and a tighter edit just under four. That tempo is the sweet spot for jackin house: fast enough to jack, loose enough to swing.
Jackin house is having another moment in 2026 for a simple reason. Dancers are tired of tracks that only work in a laptop preview. They want clipped drums, rubbery bass, chopped disco or funk language, and a groove that still feels human. The genre came out of late-80s Chicago: four-on-the-floor with a shuffle, short vocal hooks, samples that bounce instead of sit still. Stellar Punk is built for that tradition, not against it.
