Fashion week is usually about the clothes. LION BABE just made it about the walk-in music. Jillian Hervey and Lucas Goodman, better known as Astro Raw, are back with “Fashion Week,” a sassy bass house / electro house single produced by Never Dull and released September 4, right as fall season hits the calendars. They describe it as the soundtrack to outfits, parties, and that particular kind of confidence you only get when the whole city is dressing like the main character.
That brief is not a stretch for them. LION BABE have spent more than a decade blending 70s and 90s R&B with contemporary club rhythm, a mix they call electronic soul. The New York duo broke through with “Treat Me Like Fire,” then built a catalog that includes Begin (with Pharrell on “Wonder Woman” and Childish Gambino on “Jump Hi”), Cosmic Wind, Rainbow Child, and 2024’s House of LION BABE, the project that leaned hardest into classic house. Jillian also co-wrote and sang “Hourglass” on Disclosure’s Grammy-nominated Caracal. They have played Glastonbury and Coachella, landed tracks on Insecure and NBA 2K22, and recently supported Khalid on the It’s Always Summer Somewhere Tour while pairing with DJ Will Sass on “Zazaza.” “Fashion Week” sits in that same lane: club-ready, image-conscious, and unapologetically extra.
Genre-wise this is bass house and electro house with a fashion-week strut. Think punchy low end, a bounce built for the afterparty more than the front row, and that electro snap that makes a drop feel like a camera flash. Never Dull’s production keeps it tight and functional: no wasted bars, plenty of attitude. Hervey has said the supermodel era shaped her as a kid, the self-assurance and adventure of it, and you can hear that in the concept even if you have not memorized every lyric. The pair wanted a record that owns the room the way a good look owns a sidewalk. In 2026 that is not a side note. House is riding high again, runways keep commissioning club records, and festival fashion is as loud as the sound systems. A New York duo with a house-era album and a producer who lives in disco-house energy is exactly the kind of pairing that playlist editors and after-hours DJs both understand.
What makes LION BABE stick is the contrast. Vintage soul color, modern bass weight, live-show charisma that does not flatten on a stream. “Fashion Week” is not trying to reinvent their whole catalog. It is them putting the House of LION BABE chapter on a seasonal calendar and daring you not to move.
