Melodic techno keeps winning rooms that want more than a flat four-on-the-floor loop. Listeners still want drive, but they also want a line that hangs in the air after the kick drops out. That is the lane Barcelona DJ and producer duo MoonkiZa step into with “Gold 2 Me,” a Melodic Techno and Melodic House cut that treats groove and atmosphere as the same job.
MoonkiZa is the joint project of Colombian artist Ninemøøns and Chilean artist MankiZa. They formed in Barcelona in early 2016 around a shared taste for underground electronic music and a need to push their studio work further than solo sets. Both DJs and producers, they have been tied to Clubber Magazine, the Spanish platform focused on electronic music and events, and they built their name in the city’s late-night circuit. Resident Advisor and Beatport bios place them in rooms such as This Side UP, Pacha Barcelona, Slow Club, Club Catwalk, Club Belafonte, Under Club, CCUE and La Terrrazza, plus the secret-party circuit that still matters in Barcelona. Early write-ups framed them as a reference point for Deep Techno, Tech House and Minimal House. “Gold 2 Me” sits in a more melodic chapter of that same story.
That shift is not a sudden left turn. Catalog titles already lean that way: “Tres Caminos” on Into The Vein Records, “The Day After Tomorrow” on Skull And Bones, collabs such as “All Nighter” and “Signs of Truth” with Lupe Republic, plus later singles like “Ganas de Ti,” “Aguacero de Mayo” and “Da Fxck.” Beatport has tagged several of those cuts Melodic House & Techno, Indie Dance or Progressive House, usually in the 120–125 BPM zone. “Gold 2 Me” arrives as another statement in that register rather than a one-off experiment.
In Melodic Techno and Melodic House, the hook is rarely a shouted chorus. It is a synth figure that keeps returning, a pad that opens just when the bassline starts to feel hypnotic, a kick that stays functional so the melody can do the emotional work. Tracks in this style live or die on arrangement: how long you wait before the first lift, how much space you leave between elements, whether the last third still has somewhere to go. Duo production helps here. One person can stay ruthless about the low end while the other hunts for the phrase that makes a 6 a.m. floor feel personal. The wider scene is hungry for exactly that mix. Melodic techno and melodic house keep filling festival sundowns and club peaks because they sit between peak-time techno and softer organic house without collapsing into either.
