Micah Martin VHS: Nostalgic Bass House from All I Need

0

Bass house has spent the last couple of years getting heavier, stranger, and more personal. Festival low-end still hits, but more artists are using club drums to talk about something other than the drop. Micah Martin’s new single “VHS” sits right in that lane. It is the fourth track revealed from his debut album All I Need, out November 20 on Create Music Group, and it landed on September 25, 2026.

Martin calls himself a rocktronic pioneer, and the single makes the case. “VHS” sits on the electronic and alternative end of that spectrum rather than the jump-up drum and bass side of “Burn Them All” with OddKidOut. Electronic drums and synth production carry the record, while his rock-oriented vocal identity stays front and center. The result is nostalgic alternative-electronic, not straight EDM and not straight pop-punk. It is a pop-rocktronic cut built around the memory of a slower world and the wish to pull those years off a shelf like an old tape.

The production split explains the weight. WALSCHLAGER, an emerging producer in the modern bass and club scene, brings aggressive low-end, sharp percussion, and dark, dancefloor-driven sound design. Martin also composed and produced on the record, shaping it alongside WALSCHLAGER. That dual hand is why the single can feel club-ready and still read as a letter. In his own words, “‘VHS’ is a letter to the kid I used to be. It’s about grieving the version of yourself that existed before life got so overwhelming and sometimes chaotic… before deadlines, expectations, and the weight of growing up.” He wishes he could spend one more day in a world that felt slower, simpler, and full of possibility. Plenty of listeners will recognize that feeling even if they never owned a VCR.

The rollout has been mapping range on purpose. “Tomorrow’s Over” with HIGHSOCIETY, “Burn Them All” with OddKidOut, and “Thrown Away” already showed different corners of a 17-track album that lives between electronic dance and rock-metal. “VHS” is track 13. The full list runs from “Slip Away” and the title track through “Had Enough,” “I Need It,” “Nothing I Feel,” “Mental Frequency,” “I Need A Vacation,” “Finally Home” with Hyro The Hero, “Outta My Head,” “Your Eyes,” “Never Meant” with Flux Pavilion, and “Holy Ground.” Features like Flux Pavilion and Hyro The Hero underline the bridge Martin has spent a decade building.

That bridge is the bio, not a slogan. He first made his name fronting The Zealots, formed in 2014 in the Quad Cities, opening for I Prevail, Memphis May Fire, Pop Evil, Theory of a Deadman, and Drowning Pool, and playing festivals such as Rock Fest Wisconsin. The band closed in 2020. He then put a rock-honed voice into electronic music, landing on records with SLANDER, Zomboy, Kayzo, PhaseOne, Rebelion, and Sub Zero Project, and on stages including Red Rocks, the Hollywood Palladium, The Gorge, EDC Las Vegas and Orlando, and Lost Lands. He is a daily host on Insomniac Radio’s bass-focused IMPACT channel and BASSRUSH Radio. After learning to DJ in 2024, he supported RIOT on The Machine Tour, later supported yetep, played Live Nation Canada’s Escapade in Ottawa, and headlined a New York debut at Brooklyn Meadows with ULTRA DNB. His debut rock EP, MICAH MARTIN, with AJ of The Dangerous Summer and TJ Minor, started the solo era. All I Need is where both halves meet at full volume.

Bass house and electro house fans who want guitar-scene storytelling without losing the kick will find “VHS” easy to return to. It is grief dressed as a night-drive single, and it makes the November 20 album feel less like a collection of collabs and more like one long argument about who you were before the calendar got loud.
