Los Angeles-based artist, producer and songwriter Grant Knoche teams up with pop artist Ella Collier on a new duet version of "FRICTION." Released on October 16, 2026, the reimagined single gives a fan favorite from his album GOOD LUCK GETTING OVER ME a bold, club-ready makeover, and it is the first taste of the album's forthcoming deluxe edition.
Bigger, Bolder and Built for the Club
The original "FRICTION" appeared on GOOD LUCK GETTING OVER ME, which came out in October 2025. The new version builds on its seductive energy with revamped production and a sharper, more explosive pop sound. Knoche and Collier trade sultry vocals and playful lyrics, turning the song into a flirtatious push-and-pull about the anticipation and thrill of physical attraction.
The genre tags place it in electro pop and alt pop with a hyperpop streak, which fits that high-energy approach. It is also slightly longer than the original, at about two minutes and fifty seconds. If you like your pop loud and electronic, EMI WIDE's "Love You for a Long Time" is another recent pick in that lane.
"'FRICTION' has always been one of my favorite tracks from GOOD LUCK GETTING OVER ME, but I felt like there was a whole other side of the song we hadn't explored yet," Knoche says. "Bringing Ella onto it completely changed the energy." He adds that it is "bigger, bolder, and genuinely one of the most fun times I've had reimagining one of my own records."
The Team Behind the Track
Knoche produced the new version himself and co-wrote it with Collier, Gabe Reali (The Chainsmokers, ILLENIUM) and Lily Hormel (Megan Thee Stallion, Paris Hilton, Ari Abdul). It is not the first time Knoche and Collier have worked together: the two also share the track "ALL ME."
The music video, directed by Riles Martinez, moves the song into an auto body shop, where the duo's playful chemistry meets the grit of an industrial setting. "It has that same gritty, adrenaline-filled energy of the GOOD LUCK GETTING OVER ME motocross world, but takes it somewhere completely new," Knoche says.
